Local JPMorgan Chase office will offer mortgage resolution | The Columbus Dispatch: "Housing advocate Suzanne Gravette Acker, who works with the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio, said she is hopeful but skeptical that the centers will do what they advertise to help consumers.
'We're open to anything that can help homeowners stay in their home, and if this has a proven track record, we welcome it,' she said.
'We've heard so many horror stories about people working with banks and doing what they are told to do but then having the rug pulled out from under them and still getting foreclosed upon,' Acker said.
'We are all for banks negotiating as best they can to keep homeowners in their homes.'
The announcement last week of Chase's expansion came as the group Hope Now revealed results of other efforts to address the mortgage crisis.
Mortgage servicers negotiated 1.76million permanent loan modifications for homeowners last year, but more than two-thirds of them were completed in-house and were not part of the federal government's Home Affordable Modification Program."
