Aaron Gornstein, head of the Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association, said the jump in foreclosures has forced many families to move into apartments or go live with family or friends, while others become homeless.
Robyn Frost, executive director of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, said nearly 4,000 families live in state-funded shelters, with 2,900 in standard group homes and another 900 families in motels, because the state lacks sufficient shelter space."
